PUNJAB: All India Football Federation in its Annual General Body Meeting held on 21st December, 2016 at AIFF Football House, New Delhi, has conferred Punjab Football Association with a prestigious award of 2016 AIFF Best Developing Grassroots Programme. This is the highest recognition in India which PFA has achieved for making high number of successful Grassroots programmes in the State of Punjab. Besides PFA & JCT, all other Grassroots Centers/ Academies running in the State of Punjab are also responsible for this achievement. Mr.Samir Thapar, President of Punjab Football Association who is also CMD of JCT Limited, played a vital role in this endeavour by creating a solid landmark and for continued moral, financial and technical support to all Grassroots events of Punjab Football Association held at various cities and rural areas of Punjab. The efforts from Sant Baba Bhag Singh Football Academy, Nikki Ghuman, YFC-Rurka Kalan, Doaba Sporting Club-Khera-Mahilpur, Kuljit Football Academy, Bhalla Pind, Khalsa SS School-Baddon, Guru Nanak Sports Academy-Bilga and SBS Football Academy-Jagraon are also instrumental for this highest as these centers have worked closely with PFA & JCT to achieve this goal and these centers have received high appreciation from PFA.
Further, JCT’s former International Footballer Mr.Deepak Kumar, who is General Secretary of Punjab Football Association, has been inducted as Member by AIFF in its Executive Committee for new term of four years commencing from 2017 to 2020 who will represent as member from North India.
