MIZORAM: The evening fixture saw struggling champions Aizawl FC finally end their recent slump of consecutive defeats as a late winner salvaged them 3 points against Chhinga Veng FC on Monday.
Both teams in desperate need for a win, set out looking for an early goal and duly got their chance. Aizawl FC fail to capitalise on their opportunity but Chhinga Veng FC duly converted theirs as Vanlallawma pounced on a rebound from a Khawpuimawia shot to take the lead on the 4th minute.
Spurned on their fans and their lead, Chhinga Veng continued to be the better team of the half as Aizawl FC struggled to create clear cut opportunities, while Chhinga Veng FC looked threatening on the counter-attack.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Aizawl FC picking their opponents backline apart with typical precision. They duly got their equaliser through Lalramchullova on the 78th minute after constant pressure. The defender converting captain Rohminga’s delivery.
As the game looked set for a draw, it was substitute Lalnuntluanga who made the difference from the bench, scoring the winner on the 90th minute to give his side a much needed win.
