KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan President Swapan Sadhan (Tutu) Bose on Tuesday resigned from his post citing “deteriorating health”.
Bose, has been controlling the affairs of Mohun Bagan for almost 20 years and his resignation came at a crucial juncture when the 128-year-old club is fighting an uphill battle to play the cash-rich Indian Super League.
In his resignation letter to Mohun Bagan General Secretary Anjan Kumar Mitra, who has health issues of his own, Bose said: “With every passing day, my health is deteriorating further and I think with this condition I am not doing justice to the chair of the President of our beloved club. I hereby request the executive committee members to accept the resignation with immediate effect.”
“It is a very tough and emotional decision for me but everything has to come and end one day. However, my mental bonding with the club will remain till the last breath of my life and would love to be of any help to my club within my capabilities.” he added.
