Champhai, Mizoram: The people of Champhai witnessed a thrilling top of the table clash between Chanmari FC and league leaders Bethlehem Vengthlang FC. The former looking to gain some ground on the runaway leaders.
An exciting Chanmari Fc, bouyed by the return of mercurial attacker Fela Zote looked bright and threatened from the off and threatened their opponents early in the game through Malsawmfela.
Bethlehem Vengthlang FC, no slouch themselves, looked to hit on the counter, producing their knitty gritty football. But it was Chanmari FC who drew first blood as Malsawmfela put through Fela Zote and the attacker duly slotting it past goalkeeper Mala.
Bethlehem Vengthlang FC equalised through PC Zosanga right before halftime giving some respite for his team.
The second half saw Chanmari FC kick up a gear, taking the game to their opponents and open the flood gates with three well taken goals against a side boasting the best defensive record in the league.
Rammawia gave Chanmari FC the lead early in the second half, with Malsawmfela scoring their third from the penalty spot. 6 minutes later, Vanlalbiaa scored their fourth after spotting goalkeeper Mala off his line.
Returning hero Fela Zote was duly awarded The Man of the Match.
