Mizoram: Round 6 of MPL5 played witness to an exciting derby encounter between former champions Chanmari FC and neighbours Chanmari West FC with the “West Warriors” coming out on top courtesy of a brace from Laldampuia
Chanmari West FC took the game to their rivals right from the off with their attacking trident of Dampuia, Danmawia and Lianzama tormenting Chanmari FC’s defence time and again. It did not take long for Chanmari West FC to break the deadlock when Danmawia and Dampuia combined well for Dampuia to open the scoring on the 8th minute.
Chanmari FC’s hapless backline looked lost and could’ve conceded more if not for some wayward finishing. Dampuia then doubled their tally after being put through by Lianzama right on the stroke of halftime.
Chanmari FC did improve right after the break and looked to reduce thier deficit right away with talisman Malsawmfela trying to breakthrough Chanmari West Fc’s defence.
They did grab a goal when Malsawmfela finished off a freekick from Reuben on the 58th minute. Chanmari FC looking for the equaliser, continued to look threatening, and so did their opponents looking to kill of the game.
Neither side managed to find the net after the three goals, and Laldampuia was duly given The Man of the Match award for giving his side 3 valuable points.
Chanmari West FC are on third spot with 10 points from 6 games; Chanmari FC remain second in the table with 11 points.
