KOLKATA: East Bengal has crushed out of the ongoing Federation Cup 2017 after losing 2-0 to defending champions Mohun Bagan in the semifinal yesterday, and less than 12 hours later some key members of East Bengal team in Arnab Mondal, Narayan Das, Mohammed Rafique, Subhasish Roy Chowdhury, Mehtab Hossain and Samad Ali Mallick alongside goalkeeper coach Abhijit Mondal were seen travelling back to Kolkata from Cuttack in an unreserved compartment of Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express on Monday morning.
As the players did not have any reservation therefor some had to complete the 405 kilometer journey remain standing while some chose to sit on their luggage near the toilet.
In the same compartment (D7), there were a few Mohun Bagan fans who were completely surprised to see the Red and Golds players. Bagan fans offered their seats to players from their rival camp and even took selfies with the likes of Arnab Mondal and Mehtab Hossain.
After reaching Howrah Station, Arnab Mondal informed the media that the club tried to book flight tickets for the team but couldn’t find seats and had arranged an bus but they wanted to return home as early as possible hence they chose to return on their own and took the train.
