BARASAT: Kamal Roy’s awesome strike went in vain as Mohun Bagan rode Amit Gayen’s goal to hold Mohammedan Sporting Club 1-1 in an Group-B fixture of the U19 IFA Shield 2015-16 at the Barasat Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday.

For most parts of the game, Mohammedan held the upper hand with better all-round footballing skills. But a few small errors here and there, especially in the second-half, denied them full points.

Mohammedan began on an aggressive note initially, but failed to break the deadlock despite creating a host of goal-bound attacks. However Mohammedan were eventually paid for their better performance in first-half stoppage time when Kamal ran past couple of defenders on the right side to slot the ball home.

Mohun Bagan bounced back in the second-half and equalised through Amit in the 76th minute.

In the remainder of the half Mohammedan attacked relentlessly to garner maximum points but Mohun Bagan managed to hold on defending deep as the game ended 1-1.

Mohammedan now plays Liverpool FCI Academy-DSK Shivajians on Saturday, 20th February, 2016 at the Kalyani Stadium.
